DIY Toilet roll holder

I won a £100 Amazon gift card and I wanted to buy myself something I wouldn't normally. As it happens I have also thoroughly enjoyed this years Sewing bee. So although I had a bit of a fear of sewing machines, and remembered not enjoying the process of sewing, I bought a sewing machine.

Please meet Singer 1409 who arrived on 13 March 2019.

Isn't she a beauty!

Well it took me a while to open the box and get her out. I was a little anxious to make my first experience of using it a good one, and I was finishing off decorating my bathroom.

This is a before photo.

Even if I do say so myself; I think I did a fantastic job of it!

What a difference it makes

Well my bathroom needed some storage for my spare toilet rolls. As any more cabinets were out of the question (there is just not enough room to squeeze another in) I was looking for other options.

I took inspiration from three places. I loved the simple instructions provided by Makeit-loveit but I wasnt sure about hanging it over my toilet roll holder.

ET speaks from home offered a better hanging option for me as I was planning on adding a hook to the wall for this. The material she used also made me reach for a canvas print I picked up on one of mine and mums annual trip to the knitting and stitching show in Harrogate.

EasyToSew was an easy to follow tutorial and I just loved the tab top. I thought this was the perfect solution to my hanging dilema. Especially as I had decided to use the plastic hangers from when I bought my bathmats instead of throwing them away.

Here is the finished item. I forgot to topstich but overall for my first dive into sewing with my new machine I think it went brilliantly, and it goes lovely in my bathroom.

My fabric was from Lili Fabrics

You can see how perfect the tabs are with the hanger
